The Adult College's Job Shop is a free, confidential information, advice and guidance service designed to help residents get back into work, improve their skillset or widen their career options, whether they are returning after raising a family or caring for someone, have been made redundant, are looking for their first job, or are long or short-term unemployed.

Support includes 1-1 and virtual advice and guidance, better off calculations and in-work benefit advice, help removing barriers to employment such as childcare responsibilities, education and training assessments and referrals, IT application training, CV and covering letter preparation, application form and personal statement support, and interview technique coaching, along with access to computers, telephone, photocopying and scanning facilities by appointment. The service also includes a dedicated apprenticeship and construction team, dedicated support for council tenants, and an employer engagement team working with local businesses to create opportunities for residents.
